New Beginnings

We often say cheers to new beginnings, seldom remembering that every moment is in fact a new beginning.

It may not feel like it because we've been caught in the same story for days, weeks, if not years on end. But from the universe's standpoint, this moment is just as new as the last, and really has nothing to do with what happened before, yet everything to do with it at the same time.

For some reason, our minds decided they're not going to agree with reality, that instead, they're going to protest, to put up a fight, and to kick and scream about every little thing that happens that doesn't go our way.

Our way? What even is our way? Is there a specific way that things should happen? If so, then wouldn't my way be different than your way? What happens then? Whose way wins? What about the other 8 billion people on the planet? What about their way? Now there are 8 billion people with their own versions of how they think reality should play out?

Who in their right mind thinks the unfolding of life should happen according to their way? Oh wait, that's right - we all do.

Somehow, somewhere along our evolution, we human beings decided that we're not going to be okay unless we get what we want, and we avoid what we don't want. In this decision, we forgot that we don't control what happens around us. Sure, we may influence it marginally, but control? That's a job for forces way, way greater than any of us.

So you get to a point where you ask yourself, are you going to play out the same drama over and over until your last waking breath, or are you going to recognize that this moment is the new beginning you're looking for?

You don't have to wait for that major life milestone, or the new job, or the big move. That's right, you can begin anew right now, and then right now again. It's never too late, or too early, to start anew and drop into the present moment.

Live with substance!
